airodump-ng had been added to the Windows path. Each time the program is started it attempts to download the peek files again. airodump-ng needs to check the directory with the airodump-ng executable as well as the current directory to see if the peek.sys file exists.
Hello,
I have seen two posts with a similar title in the "I don't read instructions" forum but this is different; I have the files, was using airodump fine, but now cannot get it to work as airodump tries to connect to make a dialup connection each time I attempt to initialise the program nomatter whether I CD to the Bin directory or access it from CMD from my path. Also, tried to search these forums but after clicking search the page sits there for over 2 minutes trying to load and then gives Page Not Found; tried last night and again this morning.
NOTE: The machine with the wireless card is not connected to the internet so cannot download peek files. I have downloaded them on my main system and copied them over to the laptop on CF card.
Situation:
I read and followed the tutorials, installed correct drivers, downloaded the aircrack-ng 0.9 version, downloaded the Peek files and put them in the same bin directory as airodump-ng.
I then opened CMD, CD'd to the correct directory and opened airodump-ng. Was asked if I wanted to download Peek files or if already installed. Chose option to say already installed and the program went along.
I've managed to start the program running and it's been sat there overnight collecting IV's nicely.
Problem:
Rebooted the machine this morning and added the airodump location to my Path.
Typed airodump-ng from the CMD and was again asked if I wanted to install Peek files or not. Said no. Then the laptop tried to connect to the internet (which isn't connected to a lan or wireless network) so I cancelled. It then told me it had failed to download the Peek files and it was exiting.
I am now unable to start airodump-ng despite both Peek files being in the correct directory as the program tries to connect to the internet as soon as I type 'airodump-ng' and when I have to cancel the dial-up window it gives me the error and puts me back to CMD prompt.
I've tried copying over the files in the aircrack directory and starting again but the program doesn't go back to asking whether I want to download Peek files or not, it simply immediately tries to make a dialup.
I've been through the registry and removed references to airodump but they were only in the MUI part anyway.
Any suggestions on how to either clean start this or stop it trying to dial up would be appreciated.
Thanks
James
