Changelog 1.0.0

  • Merges in master to pull in the changelog from the 0.14.1 release and to fix the imaginary merge conflict in PR #1392
  • Adds the changelog for the 1.0.0 release. And yes, it's massive..... careful scrutiny appreciated.

    I've processed ' feedback and added the changes in a separate commit. Commits should be squashed on (or before) merge.
