Modal dialog: Cannot use the pen tool because of a program error

new doc, select pen tool, single click on canvas (makes 1 anchor point), hit delete/backspace, attempt to click/click+drag with pen tool. Result: error

    workaround, select superselect, move something, go back to pen tool
