Briefly, pages were reverting to previously-set language

Question

TL;DR: Somehow I got into a state where the FAQ page on Staging or Production had started reverting to the last language I had set it to, rather than letting me change it.

I was changing it without issue earlier today. I think this must somehow be user error (= me) but I don't see how yet - I am not in an incognito window, haven't disabled cookies, etc. After navigating to the homepage, whose language I could change, I went back to the FAQ page, and was again able to change the language there as well.

I don't know how to repro this, now that it stopped happening. When it was happening, it was easy to repro - just try to change the language on the FAQ page.

I just ran in to this again, on Staging.

Does this correspond to when something is happening with the site, like a deploy/ rollback?

I am seeing this error on the homepage on Staging at the same time, said it was possibly a consequence of the deploy timing.
