Impossible to examine style in the HTML view

using firefox 3.5.4 and firebug Version 1.4.3 or later (!) doesn't let me
inspect html anymore (jumping always to DOM) -- i had to go back to firefox
3.0.11 to use it as usual.

how can one get it work?

I guess you have a conflicting extension or such. If you install Firebug in a new
Firefox extension the problem will be gone.
