my problem is the following:
I am running an nginx server with php-fpm (7.2).
PHP has explicitly no error_log, so it can output logs to /dev/stderr.
The output is then captured from nginx, but outputted in another format. Nginx outputs something similar to:
2017/08/23 10:47:26 [error] 13057#13057: *206119 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP message: PHP Fatal error...
Which makes the logs quite hard to read as they are not in the same format as nginx.
