I have php application that needs connection to Oracle (dedicated, shared server, or database resident connection pooling). Users (human users) are expected to be at 40 OOO registered users, maybe 15000 concurrently connected at peak load. the application is mostly SELECT statements on joins of 10 tables with few hundred thousands rows each one (I know indexes, caching, parallel, pipelined functions... etc.
I personally prefer dedicated servers for ease of management, but the memory cost of it is high.
I wonder if any one among you have an experience with both, so he can help me decide which one I should use?
