I am a n00b when it comes to PHP and Ajax. Unfortunately (because of the deadline for my project), I have been asked to come up with a datagrid within 3 days . Can anyone please point me to any tutorial that would provide information on how to go about with datagrid creation? I see a lot of examples online but they have a significant code base to understand. I was hoping if I could find a rather basic datagrid example with steps on how to go about with creating one?

That's because fully-functional DataGrids are freaking complex.
You are going to be ten times better off spending those three days evaluating all of the various options already on the market and trying out two or three of them. It will also help if you've already picked a modern Javascript library, because that will narrow down your list of best options.

Directly related, jqGrid seems very popular, and is GPL+MIT to boot, so you can use it in pretty much any project. There are also PHP bindings that make use of PDO, but those are a commercial addition priced ato $300 or so. That's also $300 of your time you didn't have to spend re-inventing the wheel.
