I'm trying to display the count of table entries with the same name.

I have a table like this

Blood Collection
--------------------
id   bloodComponent 
1    Whole Blood
2    Platelet
3    Plasma
4    Platelet
5    Plasma
6    Whole Blood

I would like the output to be something like:

Name         On Stock
------------------------
Whole Blood      2
Platelet         2
Plasma           2

I am using laravel as a framework...

You may try something like this:

$bloodCollections = DB::table('blood_collections')
             ->select('bloodComponent as name', DB::raw('count(*) as onStock'))
             ->groupBy('bloodComponent')
             // Prepare $startDate & $endDate
             ->whereBetween('created_at', [$startDate, $endDate])
             ->get();

Then the loop:

foreach($bloodCollections as $collection) {
    // $collection['name'];
    // $collection['onStock'];
}
